Thanks for bringing this up! I've had this ever since I got my iPad
mini. Curious really and never had an issue with it hence me not
bringing this up earlier. I thought it was just my iPad but obviously
not. Thanks once again.

the status bar will not change. So if the alarm is off, it will stay off. If
the alarm is on, it will stay on.
