You can only do that for the first time you activate a new device. If
the device is new, it should allow you to have a free apple id and allow
you to do it without a credit card. If the device is not new, you can
basically reset the device to factory defaults, and set it up as a new
device with a new apple id and new email address. Once you reach to the
credit card section, there will be visa, master card, American
express... and none. You choose none, and continue the setup to the end.
