the long, flat side of your phone on the item you'd like to level (shelf or
picture), it should announce how many degrees you are out of alignment.
There is also one for when you lay it flat on a table, it will tell you how
far out of alignment, but not whether it's left and right, or front to back,
that is out of alignment. For that, just use the long, flat edge like
before.
It also has a vertical one for leveling walls or dressers.

In case there are new people who don't know about this, if you open
the compass and then flick with three fingers to the left you will
open the spirit level. I find it is actually quite good!
