A lot of people don't like them. But I use western digital. They have an app called "My cloud" And it allows you to connect to it away from home. We watch movies, listen to music, and I was even able to print my resume for a job out of town. As for accessibility on the dash board. Its a bit clunky, but it allows you to do what you need too. I was able to switch the rade set, assign permissions, create users, and was even able to view the amount of storage used and how much was left over. Right now I am using the my cloud Ex 16TB. In the past I used the My cloud 8TB, 6TB, and they even had a 3TB model. They were all accessible. If you wanna know anything else, all my info is below. But I highly recommend this model if you want accessibility out of the box. I didn't need to install any of the desk top apps for the Mac or PC, they just were plug and play.
