Hi Denise, Definitely not, in Airplane mode your iPhone should use very little battery. During my recent trip to the Philippines I was on planes and on airports for almost 20 hours and I listened to Audible almost constantly. During a layover in Hong Kong I was on WiFi and made some Skype calls and still I had battery left when I arrived in Manila. I am not even sure what to suggest without knowing more details.
