I have been using an app called Week Cal for about the last year and a half. Things about it I find particularly useful or the ability to create templates for common appointments, that I can have more alerts than the standard app will give me, and that the increments for minutes can be set down to one minute rather than five. For the record, it is not free. There are a couple of unlabeled buttons now, and figuring out which calendar your accessing a given moment can be slightly tricky. I use several different calendars, so for me that can become an issue. All this said however, I'm still using it, and have no plans to change soon.
