Hello Netatmo Weather Station Users,

Just thought I let you know that the Netatmo rain sensor is now available.
You may have seen a recent update to the Netatmo app and if you checked the
"What's New" you would have seen that the main item was support for the new
rain sensor.

This means you can now have the weather station which consists of the main
indoor module and 1 outdoor module, you can add up to 3 more additional
indoor modules and now the rain sensor. The indoor module measures current
indoor temperature, minimum and maximum temperature for the current day
(from 12:00 AM until 11:59 PM), indoor humidity, CO2 level and noise (sound
meter is only on the main indoor module, it is not supported for the
additional indoor modules).

The outdoor module measures current temperature, Feels Like temperature,
minimum and maximum temperature, humidity and pressure. It also gives an air
quality value, but that is accessed from official air quality sensors so
depending where you are it may or may not be accurate.

Now that the rain sensor has been added the weather station is another step
to being more complete, as far as I know Netatmo will be releasing an
Anemometer (wind sensor) later this year or next year.

The rain sensor, just like the additional indoor modules, is $79, shipping
to Canada was $17 and I think in the States it is $8. If you already own the
weather station and have the app you can order right from there. I
discovered a button one swipe to the right of the "Last Updated" field,
Voiceover reads it as "PluvioMeterStation" button. Not sure what if anything
this means, but if you tap it you are taken to a page which starts with
"Rain Gauge for the Netatmo Weather Station", there is a Close button at the
top right and information about the rain gauge including a message that says
you can preorder it and that it will be shipped within 15 days.

It also then says that it is in stock, that you can add 1 rain gauge to a
Netatmo Weather Station and it gives the price and an "Add to Cart" button.

I went through the ordering and check-out process easily, everything is
fully accessible and you can pay via Amazon EasyPay, PayPal or credit card.

Now, the warning I should give is that I have not yet spoken to Carlos, the
head developer, as to whether the readings from the rain gauge are
accessible for Voiceover users. I have emailed him and once I get a reply
I'll of course report what he said. I also ordered my rain gauge and provide
more feedback once I have it and connected it to my station. I am quite
certain that given Netatmo's commitment to accessibility that the
information from the rain gauge is or will be accessible, but for those who
want to be careful it might be a good idea to wait.

Regards,

Sieghard
