It is doable, and there is even a name for a non-Apple machine running OSX: a 
"hackintosh". However, the process is illegal, and there is no guarantee that 
it will work and/or continue to work and/or do everything properly. Better to 
find a used Mac if you want to try out the system, or spend a lot of time at 
your local computer store, playing on their display units.
