Hi Listers,

If like me you are a language learner you might be using the translator
app by Green Lake Technology. There are many Translation apps but this one is
my favorite. I was sad to find it no longer working after I updated to iOS
7.1.1. I wrote to the developer and got a quick response with both a temporary
work around and a promise that they were working on a permanent fix.

Here is how the app works and how to work around the problem.

In this app you can select two languages. There are many to pick from
and you can change then when you need to. In my case I am using French and
English. There are two buttons labeled voice. the first one is your Left
language and your second is the right language. These are set up in settings.
Normally I would double tap the button and speak a word or sentence. The app
would then speak the same word or sentence back in my selected language. I
would then often go to the other button and practice my pronunciation until the
app could give me back the correct words in English.

Once you speak a phrase you can press a button to repeat it so that you can
keep listening until you hear it clearly. the text will also appear on the
phone in both languages so you can review it with Voice Over commands.
After the update pressing the "Voice button and then talking would only result
in the app saying "I don't understand what you said." The solution is to
quickly tapp the button a second time just as you finish talking. Doing this
will cause the app to work normally. In the past the app knew you were done
talking and gave you a verbal and written translation.

I hope this helps other folks using this app for language learning, travel, or
other uses.
