By default your iPhone will automatically connect to your WI-FI home router. When you leave your coverage area, your iPhone will automatically connect to your carrier's network smoothly and you won't even notice it. I've started downloads at home downloading NLS Talking books where the file size may be 150 megs. The download was never interrupted.
