The way I see it iOS does not actually complete email addresses. As you start typing it gives you matching entries in a listso if I want to send an email to let's say somebody called John Smith who is in my Contacts, I type the first 2 or 3 letters, so "j o" or "j o h", then if I check the matching results and if I have 4 people with the first name John or even the last name "Johnson" I will see all of them there and I can pick the one I want from the list. Sometimes completion works fine for email addresses on my iPad. But at other times it seems to quit working. I type the beginning of a contact's name or email address and I know it has been completed before and should be available but nothing happens and I end up having to go into "add contact" to put the email address in or put it in manually if I remember it.
