Do you have any ports at all on your car stereo? Like to hook up a DVD Player, CD Player, or VCR?
I personally would not rule out trying a FM transmitter. Sometimes, but not often, they work great. I recently had very good experience with a universal fm transmitter from Best Buy. We used it on a road trip and the only time we got static was when we drove into an area where that particular station was being used. This FM transmitter had a "smart scan" button on it and we would just push that button and it would search for a clearer station to use. This FM transmitter wasn't cheap though. I think it was around $40 give or take a little. If you do try one, check out the return policy before you buy. I will say that I had sighted assistance. On this particular model, there must have been a screen that would tell you which station to set your stereo to. I am so sorry but I do not know what brand or anything about this fm transmitter we tried. I can tell you that it was universal, not for the iPhone only, had a smart scan button and was powered via USB and allows you to charge your device at the same time. I have also heard that some automobiles and it's antenna have a lot more to do with the success of an FM transmitter. than the transmitter itself. I don't know if that's true though.
