To the person having trouble hearing completed words, auto-speaking may be off.
Go into the settings (at the top of the screen) and make sure everything is
configured the way you want. As others have said, you must swipe on the
keyboard itself, since that is the part of the screen where VoiceOver is
instructed to ignore all gestures. In Fleksy VO this area was the entire
screen, but now it is only the bottom half.

As to a campaign to keep Fleksy VO around, that would be a step backwards, i
feel. Fleksy has always said that that app was a stopgap measure while they
fixed the main one, and when they made it, it caused a lot of backlash. The
idea has always been to combine the two apps back into one, and this is their
first stab at doing so. As others have said, it has problems, but it is the
first version and Fleksy knows there is work to be done. The goal remains a
unified app for everyone, as it should. After all, keep in mind that what this
app does is what any apps that integrate Fleksy will do, so if they never made
the main app accessible, Blindsquare, Tweetings, and all the other apps that
offer Fleksy as a keyboard would not have an accessible typing experience
either.
