Hi, There is a difference between retail packaging, non-retail packaging which Amazon also calls "frustration free packaging" and bulk packaging. Below is a link from Amazon.ca regarding the use of frustration free packaging. I think the term "frustration free" is a good one because I often bought something and was quite frustrated by the way it was packaged especially when it almost takes a pound of dynamite or the use of a machete to get into it.

My first one was the "Retail" version, although the headsets are than same, with the retail you get instructions, different size earbuds and ear cushions. You get none of that with the bulk. Also you must go to their website to get any instruction on how to activate it. I had to call them to get the proper ear buds and cushions. Suggests to me the difference with software between OEM and retail which is to say - OEM is volume sale in minimal presentation packaging and priced for volume sale. retails is presented more expensively and priced for individual sale. A trader that picked up the end of a non-retail batch should be able to offer at the volume price, though suspect it is breaking some trading clause to do so.
