If you mean you updated to iOS 7.1.1 it may also be a good idea to make sure all apps are closed using the app switcher and to do a complete shut-down of the phone, then wait 30 seconds and power it up again.
By the way, when you did your update, did you do the above? I mean before you updated, did you force quite all apps and reboot your phone? I am not saying you can't update without doing this, but for the future, if you do this there is a much smaller chance you ever have problems with an update getting things messed up. Of course one should always do a backup before updating, too.
