Karen, I think you've already resolved your issue of converting aiff files
to mp3 but I'll add my two cents for future reference. Aiff stands for Audio
Interchange File Format which was developed by Apple in 1988 according to
Wikipedia. These lossless audio files should play fine in iTunes which also
can be used to convert them to mp3. Since most folks already have iTunes,
using it to convert them will save them from having to download and install
another conversion program.

Just make sure that iTunes is set to import using the mp3 encoder in its
import setting dialog. To get to this in iTunes for Windows:

1. Launch iTunes and press ctrl + , to open the preferences dialog.
2. Place focus on the General tab.
3. Press alt + o to open the import settings dialog.
4. Select mp3 encoder from the drop-down list.
5. Select the desired mp3 recording settings.
6. Search for the aiff files you wish to convert so they are listed in the
iTunes window.
7. Shift + F10 will open the context menu for the file with focus and you
should have the option to create mp3 version in the context options
presented.

Thanks. Where is the best place to find the Free Audio Converter? I did a
search with several results, but am not familiar with these sites, so don't
want to get into one that would cause problems.
