Hello Mike, Thank you for posting this. You know, I discovered this bug and mentioned it on this list some time ago only I perceived it as being a volume glitch in, so much as when the microphone is active, so to speak, VoiceOver volume decreases, slightly. The solution you posted does work well and it is the one I will use until this bug has been squashed. .
My original solution was to open the Music app and begin playing a song for 1 second. This always restored the volume to its original level. I had no idea, until reading your post to this list on this matter, that the decrease in volume was because of an active microphone. After reading this post, I now realize that by playing a song, I was inadvertently disabling the microphone. I'm glad Apple is aware of this; thanks again. Perhaps this will help if you use the dictation feature. I had actually noticed something interesting on my iphone 5c, I would go to bed with a battery level of around 50 percent, and wake up and it would be 35 percent or lower. Here is the issue. If you use dictation, once you are done, the phone stops translating your text, but the microphone remains on and continues listening. This will drain your battery much faster. To get around this until Apple fixes it, after dictating and receiving your text, hold the home button until you hear the siri tone. You don't have to say anything to siri, just wait for the tone then release the home button, that should turn the microphone off. When doing this, my battery goes down much slower. Hopefully Apple will fix this soon. -- The following information is important for all members of the viphone list. All new members to the this list are moderated by default.
