For what it's worth, you can also block text messages in iOS 7. Open the text in the Messages app, flick/swipe right to the contacts button, then on that screen swipe right till you get to the more info button. Double tap on that and at the bottomof that screen is the block button, which will block any contact from that number/person. Just want to cover bases. Though thanks Mark for telling us how to forward messages to AT&T's spam catcher, good to know.
