Hi Crystal, I'll CC this message to you as well as sending it to the list, since I just re-subscribed yesterday so I doubt my message will make it to the list for a while.
Did Apple Support get you to run any remote diagnostics when you talked to them on the phone? There are remote diagnostics that they can run to try to diagnose your battery without sending you to the store. In fact, you can start the process of running the diagnostics yourself by going to https://selfsolve.apple.com. Depending on the result of your diagnostics, you'll probably be told to schedule another support call with Apple. As for a factory reset, I would do a restore in iTunes if you have a computer handy. There are options to back up the data on your phone and to restore your phone. These options are located under the summary tab for your device in iTunes. Depending on your familiarity with iTunes, feel free to ask for further details, but basically, back up the device first, then restore the phone. On the setup screen that appears following the restore, you can choose to set the phone up as a new device or restore the data from the backup you just made. If you have find my iPhone turned on, you'll first have to go into the iPhone's settings. Choose iCloud, then turn off find my iPhone. I guess after all of this, Apple might still want you to go to the store but you could also ask if they'd be willing to do an advanced exchange. This is where they ship you a new phone along with return instructions for the old phone. I believe this used to cost $35. Depending on whether there's an obvious issue with your phone, they might be willing to do this for you. Good luck! Hi, I just called about my iphone 5s and battery drain issue. Yesterday afternoon I charged my phone. It was up to 100%. As of right now, it is at 34%. It has been sitting on the desk, locked screen on, and no activity. Everything that could be turned off was turned off. It seems I have two options. I can get someone to drive me to Austin, which is not convenient, and go to an Apple store and ask for an extended battery test. Or, I can do a factory reset to see if that clears up the issue. I am using 7.1.1. If I decided to try the factory reset, are there any pit falls I need to know about? At least, my iphone is still under warranty.
