Try IM+ either the free or pro version which can tell you who is on and offline as a per contact setting.

Does it tell you who is on and off line if you use the messenger?
I installed it a long time ago on my iPhone but it seemed to do the same
thing as facebook chat and the message feature that is built into
facebook so I removed it.
I like being able to know which friends are on and off line.

I don't understand. I use the separate free Messenger app from Facebook
and works very well with VoiceOver with no unlocking of orientation
necessary.

Hi,
I just got an iPad mini and I was having trouble accessing the
facebook chat area.
I had a sighted friend tell me that in order to open chat you have to
have the orientation of the screen unlocked which always gives me
problems.
I am wondering if there is a way to get the chat list window to open
if the screen orientation is locked on an iPad mini?
