The Otterbox Defender case offers the same protection as it does on the 4S, except for the home button. That is left uncovered, so that you can use Touch ID. The rest of the case is solid though, and feels more solid - the outer case is harder and sturdier to my touch, compared to the softer and flimsier silicone of the 4S case.
