Oops, sorry, I could have sworn I heard "Appalachians" and not "Himalayas"
even though both with Voiceover and Jaws it doesn't really sound that close.
Yes, you definitely want the 24,000 MAH version if you plan to use GPS a
lot. Of course if you don't have any mobile connection otherwise you can
turn off things like WiFi, Bluetooth and even cellular data. Unfortunately
turning on Airplane mode also disables the GPS so that's not an option.

Enjoy your trip,
Sieghard

Hi Sieghard,

I am in India and will be going to the Himalayas. I agree about the Limefuel
and thanks for the tip about there being a 24000 MAH version.

Hi Pranav,

I would definitely go with the Limefuel, it has a higher capacity and 4.6
out of 5 on Amazon which is excellent. The other pack you mentioned is only
11,500 MAH. Of course it depends on how many days you will be gone, will you
be camping and hiking for several days without any access to power? The
Limefuel batteries come in various capacities and they even make one larger
now at 24,000 MAH.

By the way, the highest peak in the Appalachians is Mount Mitchel at 6,684
feet or 2,037 metres. Not sure where you get the 12,500 feet of elevation
you mentioned, these sort of elevations you will only find in the Rockies.

Regards,
Sieghard

Subject: Any opinions on battery packs with high MAH?

Hi all,

I am looking at trekking in the Himalayas and was thinking of taking my
iPhone along. I plan to go up till 12500 feet above mean sea level. What
battery pack should I take? I need something that has high capacity. I
searched and found the Intocircuit Power Castle at
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BB5GR0A?tag=thewire06-20&linkCode=as2&cr
eative=374929&camp=211189
According to http://thewirecutter.com/reviews/best-usb-battery-pack-travel/
this is the best battery pack of the ones they had tested. Of course, one
can never be sure of these things.
Then there is the 18000 MAH battery pack at
http://www.amazon.com/External-Battery-Pack-Limefuel-L180X/dp/B00C78YJQY

It has a flashlight though.

Anyone any thoughts?
Pranav
