I love free enterprise and capitalism as well. That's why I give OpenBook and K1000 both the finger and use ABBYY Finereader to do my OCR at a fraction of the cost and with much better results. I do hope, however, that KNFB Technologies proves me wrong that their product will prove underwhelming compared to what's already in the market.

Besides the KNFB iPhone app, the alternative to the Blaze would be buying a used windows 7 laptop for a few hundred dollars, installing an existing licensed copy of OpenBook or K1000 and using a thin, portable scanner that costs less than $50. It is a lot more computing power and functionality than the Blaze for less money. I love America, free enterprise and capitalism. I work at a job 40 hours a week so I can earn funds to afford the best tools for my independence. I take this money and reward companies and entrepreneurs who risk their capital, savings and careers in developing new technology and innovations. Accessible products and opportunities may not be so numerous in the socialist countries such as France, Italy or Greece, where the people there face high unemployment and high taxes. Rather than blindness products at supposedly high prices, one might have next to nothing.
