It's quirky, but it's much improved from the past. You can enter grade 2 numbers by using the number sign and then the uppercase number, including multiple digits. If you pause in your typing, some things may be translated. Also, check your Braille table settings in Voiceover settings. Unified Braille Code has introduced a lot of changes from the other former English Braille codes.
