Or, you could turn airplane mode on and then turn wi-fi back on.

Hi Mary,

You could also simply remove the SIM.

Subject: Why does my iPhone still say Verizon?

I recently got an iPhone 5s. I kept my old for S, but of course it is no
longer on the Verizon network. However, in the status bar, it still says
Verizon network and gives me how many bars of signal strength I have. I
would assume that this means there is battery drainage happening because the
phone still is trying to connect. When I tried once to make a call, just to
make sure that in fact it was not connected, I couldn't get anywhere. How
can I turn cellular totally off?
Mary
