Christina, thanks for your review of the app.. I saw a very good review of
it recently, and did not consider accessibility when I made the purchase. I
did actually see it in Apple Viz reviews, where it was rated mostly OK, but
I believe that was a few years old.

There is a delete button, but you cannot activate it. Perhaps by disabling
VO... I really have not used it enough to note other quirks or even the
advantages. It is probably more than I want and was just one of those whim
purchases.

I have had more success using the Mini Keepass password keeper as a journal.
I just created a database called journal and then make separate entries for
each day. I don't know if there is a limit to the notes field which is where
I put the text; I have not been able to stick with journaling enough to find
out. The app is secure and does synchronize via Dropbox, which are really
the only two requirements I look for.

With any of these programs/apps, I have been afraid what happens in a few
years when they are either discontinued or rendered inaccessible by updates
in operating systems or screen access. That is why I still copy things to a
Windows program I have been using since about 2002 called AZZ Cardfile. Not
like that is such a chore, as I said, I can't discipline myself to write
often enough to have much to copy.
Thanks for any further discoveries.

Eric

Subject: Re: accessible Journal app

I personally would not suggest Day one at this time. I love the concept and
it is indeed partially accessible. However, there are some things that are
pretty difficult to do. Also, deleting a entry is impossible with VO. Unless
someone has figured it out. I actually corresponded with their tech support
about this issue. They have been making accessibility improvements to the
Mac version and they told me they may work on accessibility for the iOS
version. I did not notice any description of accessibility enhancements on
the latest update for Day One. However, maybe I missed something. :) I'm
sure the developers would appreciate any feedback. The last time I tried to
use Day One, I could easily type in an entry but there were other aspects
that were difficult to use but mainly the timeline page has many elements on
it that cannot be accessed via VO. At least, I could not figure out how nor
could the tech person i spoke with . :)

I am still hoping to find a good app for iOS that I can Sync with my Mac.
The problem is that I don't want to spend a lot of money only to find that
one or both app versions are not accessible. I have been very curious about
MacJournal as they will sync but I do not know if either the mac or the iOS
version are accessible.
