Yes, Apple did all of that, but at the same time they use a lot of proprietary hardware and software which makes a lot of their devices and accessories a lot more expensive than the competition and yet people have no problems forking out $30 or $35 for a stupid little Lightning to 30 PIN adapter which is roughly the size of a double A battery or a 3 foot piece of cable with a USB plug on one end and a 30-Pin or Lightning plug on the other. A comparible Micro USB cable would cost about $5 or $8.
I don't really blame Apple for this, they charge what people are willing to pay, but I am sure KNFB put a lot of time and expertise in developing the iOS version of KNFB Reader and from what I have heard so far it may do some things which Prizmo or Text Grabber won't do so I think once again we should all just wait until the app is released before passing the guilty verdict. $99 is expensive for most apps, but I have seen other apps on the App Store which cost that and much more and which are made for a particular target market.
