Hello Fellow Travelers,

I am pleased to let you know that the GPS developers at A T & T are making A
T & T Navigator more VoiceOver accessible. In fact in some areas, they have
actually re-built the app from the ground up, graphics and all, so that
VoiceOver users have greater access. It's really quite remarkable and
touching to see the commitment the developers have made to those of us who
are blind or low vision. I only wish I could tell you about all of the new
features that are just around the A T & T Navigator corner. When the more
VoiceOver friendly version of A T & T Navigator is posted to the app store,
I will send a post to this list.

This, however, is not the reason why I am posting today.

This email is to let you know that, contrary to my assumption, AT&T and
Verizon Wireless use different developers for their subscription-based GPS
navigation services.

Consequently, the enhanced VoiceOver accessibility currently being tested in
A T & T Navigator will have no effect on Verizon's VZ Navigator.

I am writing to encourage those of you on the Verizon Wireless network to
download the free trial of VZ Navigator, if such a free trial exists, and
take it for a test spin and contact the VZ Navigator developers to encourage
them to make the app more VoiceOver accessible, if in fact, you find
increased accessibility is needed.

Finally, the people at A T & T wireless tell me that their developers have a
direct-to-consumer (non A T & T Wireless Based) GPS navigation app available
in the App Store called Scout that any iOS consumer may use. It gets kind
of complicated but the short of it is that the enhanced VoiceOver
accessibility currently being tested in A T & T Navigator will not
necessarily be ported over to Scout unless Scout VoiceOver users request it.

Until Next Time,

Mark
