Hi Keith,

What Joseph described works if your device is not passcode protected, if it
is you have to unlock your device, but you should be put into whichever app
is linked to the notification you tapped on.

If I double tap on let's ay an email or text message notification in my lock
screen and then put my finger on the home button to unlock via fingerprint
my phone unlocks and I am put straight into the mail or messages app with
the corresponding message showing on the screen.

This should hold true for any notifications, e.g. if you have Skype or Whats
App messenger set to show you notifications in the lock screen then Skype or
Whats App should open if you double tap on the notification and then unlock
your phone. But the message or email or whatever it is will not be displayed
completely in the lock screen and if you ask SIRI to read you a text message
or email which just came in it won't do so unless you unlock your device.
This of course makes sense since you wouldn't want somebody to have access
to messages or emails this way should your phone be stolen.

Regards,

Sieghard

Subject: What's best way to open a message notification from a locked
screen?

Hi,

I must have misunderstood recent messages on this list, or I'm just not
doing it correctly.

If my phone is locked, and I get a Message Notification, is there a way from
the locked screen to open that message and read it in its entirety?

Single or double taps just seem to bring me to the unlock button, and then
the phone opens on the Home Screen, and not the Messages.

Thanks for any help.

Keith
