As far as I know I did nothing. If I press the home button it says that I have
some notifications and the time. Apparently, the pone is not mute.

I know this might be basic, but in the interest of covering all the bases,
did you flip the mute switch? If not, try going to Settings > Sound, and making
sure your sound volume is up, and that the ringer is set to vibrate and
ringtone.
