If you switch from Verizon to T-Mobile, unless your phone is unlocked, you will probably have to get a new iPhone/device. Verizon uses a different type of network than T-Mobile. I don't understand nor can I repeat all the technicals on this, but I cannot for instance take my AT&T GSM phone to Verizon and expect it to work as is.
