Mine is working fine. I once inadvertently hit a button to the left of Volume on the bottom of the app screen, and it completely turned off my speaker. I can't remember if this was global to the phone or restricted to the app.
I needed sighted help to find that button and press it again. Don't know if this could be your issue, but thought I'd pass it on.
