I guess my point is that, as of iOS7.0, on a new iPhone 5S, it didn't
quite work like that. I know at the time, because I googled on it, that
I wasn't the only one to have problems getting the WiFi to work with a
new iPhone 5S as it should. Thus, why I asked the question. I didn't see
any reports of it having been fixed in later updates, and (as I have
indicated) I did see reports - from users detailing their experiences -
that it had been broken.

To connect to wifi go to settings wifi and then select the network you
want to use.
Then type in the password
if the en==network requires it and then press return to join.

Hi,
I'll be getting a FibreOptic installation (new modem) tomorrow,
replacing my existing DSL & WiFi with a faster connectivity (at same
cost). Now there were some issues (or bugs) when connecting 7.0 as new
to WiFi, as I needed to do. One needed to go into Airplane Mode,
maybe, or do other futzing around to get the iOS to process the Wifi
details - apparently also perhaps needing to disable Bluetooth for the
time. I had it done with assistance. being nnew to iOS, I made the
error of turning off bluetooth and hence my refreshable Braille
display therein got turned off, too.
Or is it now a fixed, straightforward thing? Type in the router/modem
number; type in its password, and then any other details it asks for.
Should the connection be done manual or auto? Or does that tend to
vary, if one doesn't work then try the other. Can anybody enlighten
me?
TIA.
