Hi, It's not as stupid a question as you might first think actually, although assuming you have an iDevice and an Apple TV I'm not sure why you couldn't have found out the answer for yourself.
The LBC app (UK radio station) will continue to play & airplay while I am doing other things on my phone - E.G. I press play, then press home to get back to my icons but LBC will still be playing. In contrast, if I am airplaying a video, I find that pressing home will stop the playback. The answer to your question depends on what you mean by "close". When you say close, if you really do mean close - E.G. remove an app from the app switcher then of course, the answer is no, the app will not be playing anything as it is no longer running. If, on the other hand you actually mean running an app in the background while you are doing something else, the answer is sometimes. Cheers, Ben.
