You don't need to read the whole string especially since usually people have top-posted so that the latest message is first with all the others under it. Start at the other end of your messages or with the earliest in a thread and just read that message instead of trying to read all the messages posted on top of each other with, I might add, a string of the list information that repeats and gets longer and longer with every added post because none of us has the time to delete it all before we post our gem on top - myself included! Now we could also get into a discussion of top-posting but please, let's not! I've seen lists destroyed and friendships wrecked over that one! I also get hundreds of emails a day and I hardly know what the signatures are unless I decide to listen to them. I don't take offense at your request but I'm not going to shorten my signature. If a rule is made that signatures have to be shorter, I would probably drop the list, not because I am a spoiled brat throwing a tantrum or anything but because being able to have the signatures I want is more important to me than being on the list. So if such a rule is made and I disappear from the list (not that that would be noticed with all the traffic here!), it's a decision about what is most important to me and not a mean-spirited reaction. I actually do understand your point and I recognize your difficulty with the way you are reading through posts.
