Hi Mark,

I started wearing these hearing aids about a month ago. They are absolutely
ausum. I have never owned a pair of hearing aids that could reproduce
natural sound nearly as well as these hearing aids.

Regarding use with IOS devices, the information you posted was very
accurate. I agree, there are some issues that have to be resolved. The
hearing aids try to pair with other bt devices in the proxcimity. This is
definitely a problem. When bt is activated, the aids switch to a different
program which changes how you hear conversation around you.

Regarding the quality of the music, again it is far superior to my last set
of hearing aids. I needed to use a device called a streamer to send the bt
signal to the hearing aids. The quality of the sound produced by the
streamer and aids was extremely poor. I was so disappointed, , I threw the
streamer in my desk and went back to my Bose headphones. NLS books do sound
pretty good through the aids.

Another consideration if considering these aids is battery life. If the
individual does a lot of streaming, the battery life will be very
short--about two or three days. However, my understanding is Resound
provides batteries through the audiologist's office that fit the individual
for the aids for three years. This is a much shorter battery life than I am
used to with aids.

On a non-technological note. My mobility instructor was said there is a very
noticeable improvement in my ability to analyze traffic patterns more
quickly and align myself for a street crossing.

Have a great day,

Lynda

Subject: Hearing Aide for iOS Being Tested by a Friend, Resound Linx

Hello Everyone,

I recently attended a short seminar where a friend is beta testing the
Resound Linx hearing aide.

First, I'll post a short synopsis of the presentation then I will post some
information I found on the web complete with a link.

Please note that I did not write these notes but sat next to someone who
did:

I hope some of you find this helpful.

Mark

1.
Presenter gave a demo on the new iPhone-centric hearing aid that he is
testing for purchase - the ReSound LiNX. The hearing aid also requires an
iPhone app that will communicate with and modify the settings on the hearing
aid.

The hearing aid is unique because it also is a Bluetooth device in his ear.
When his nearby iPhone receives a phone call, he can either answer it with
his iPhone, or listen to it directly through his hearing aid. (He does need
an iPhone to actually talk to the caller, because the hearing aid does not
have a microphone.)

He can control the volume and other settings by using the app that runs on
his iPhone. He also can use that app to set the treble and bass settings on
the iPhone.

The app allows him to customize the settings, and then save those customized
settings - for that particular place. Since the iPhone knows where he is,
the next time he go to that place, the device can automatically switch to
the settings he has set up for that place.

There are disadvantages because this is a first-generation device:
    * You need to be iPhone savvy to use the device;
    * The hearing aid gets confused by different Bluetooth devices; and
    * The voice quality is very clear, but music quality is not that good.
It is not as good as a set of earphones.

On the plus side, the device is so good that he sometimes forgets that he
has it on. He has gone to sleep and taken a shower with it in place.

directions from a GPS app, sounds from your favorite games If you use an
Android device, you can also stream audio from your phone using the ReSound

How do I pair ReSound LiNX to my Apple device?
1.Turn on Bluetooth functionality on the Apple device if it is not already
on.
2.Go to the Settings > General menu. Then select Accessibility in the
General menu.
3.Power up ReSound LiNX hearing instruments by closing the battery doors.
4.Select Hearing Aids in the Accessibility menu on the Apple device.
5.Once you enter the Hearing Aids screen, you will see the name of your
hearing instruments appear along with the ReSound brand name and model
number
6.Tap on the center of the name of your hearing instruments on the screen.
7.Pairing requests will now appear asking if you would like to pair to your
iPhone, iPadR, or iPod touchR. Press "Pair" to begin the pairing process to
your ReSound LiNX hearing instruments. Note that for pairing to two hearing
instruments, there will be two separate pairing requests.
8.Your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch will now pair to the ReSound LiNX hearing
instruments and automatically connect to them.
Key note: This first time pairing includes an MFi authentication process.
WHILE THIS PROCESS OF AUTHENTICATION IS OCCURRING, DO NOT START ANY
STREAMING TO RESOUND LINX AFTER PRESSING THE PAIRING REQUESTS. You can
verify this process is completed in one of two ways. :

1.Place the hearing instrument on your ears while the process is occurring.
Once completed, you will hear a series of 6 beep tones followed shortly by a
ripple tone.
2.Wait for more than 120 seconds to be certain that the process has
completed.

Your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch will now detect the Resound LiNX hearing
instruments you paired and automatically connect to them. The ReSound LiNX
hearing aids are now ready to stream from the Apple device.
