Like I said, it was the power button that was also giving me trouble. This problem was apparently acknowledged by Apple and a repair program had been available since May of this year for it. Since the last update, I have noticed on both my iPhone 5 and Touch (last generation with a camera) the home button seems to stick. It will not do anything. This primarily occurs after I access Siri. I cannot get back to the home screen or bring up the apps. I can turn VoiceOver on and off. It seems that touching the power button to go into standby and coming back is the only fix. I have not paid attention if others are having similar issues with the home button. I have not yet checked if my 5 is part of the battery recall group, but I have always struggled to keep decent battery life, so perhaps. Thanks! Not only did my phone have the battery issue, but it also had the power button problem present in some iPhone 5 models. The tech guy told me that if it was just the battery, it could take anywhere from one to three hours to change, but the power button required the device to be sent away to be fixed. I bought this iPhone via eBay and little did I know, it was still covered under Apple Care till next month. The Apple Care was not listed in the eBay listing. Since my phone had both problems and the warranty was still good, The Apple guy just swapped out my old phone for a brand new one. Not a reconditioned phone, but all together new. A pleasant surprise to gbe sure. I'm in the process of restoring the backup now. Good times baby. If I recall correctly, this program ends March 31, 2015, so you have some time. I would do that anyways since I would not want to send in my phone with all my stuff on it. Just download iOS 7.1.2 from <http://www.ipswdownloader.com/> www.ipswdownloader.com and restore it via iTunes. Do you know how long this program will be going on. I have an IPhone 5 with a beta of IOS 8, and I am not sure how to do about that. Best regards Annie. Instead of typing everything, I'll just paste the text from Apple's website below. The page link is after the text. iPhone 5 Battery Replacement Program <iphone5.png> [Please select a Country \/]Apple has determined that a very small percentage of iPhone 5 devices may suddenly experience shorter battery life or need to be charged more frequently. The affected iPhone 5 devices were sold between September 2012 and January 2013 and fall within a limited serial number range. If your iPhone 5 is experiencing these symptoms and meets the eligibility requirements noted below, Apple will replace your iPhone 5 battery, free of charge. <https://ssl.apple.com/support/iphone5-battery/> https://ssl.apple.com/support/iphone5-battery/ -- Have a great day, Alex Hall <mailto:mehg...@icloud.com> mehg...@icloud.com -- The following information is important for all members of the viphone list.
