Wow, I was sure confused by this one. It is developed by Novartis
Pharmaceuticals, at least that's how it is listed in the U.S. store.

My initial impression is that this could be a nice app. I haven't taken it
out walking yet, but it looks like the interface is easy enough.

Hello guys,

This app is definitely available in Poland and in Germany. It's beeing
developed by the same folks who created Ariadne GPS, I'm not sure why
they've apparently dropped forward developing of Ariadne and started a new
yet similair project.
ViaOpta Nav is free and pretty easy to use, the menu is very clear and
doesn't contain many options. You can check your locations and intersections
close to your location. When on the road, the app informs you about
intersections and POIs, botth taken from OSM (Open Street Maps), you can
also get a proper street to street navigation based on the TomTom maps.
Overall a nice, quick reacting app, given it's still the version 1.0,
hopefully we'll see it improving in the future.
The interface is in English, on my German-speaking iPhone interface the app
menus are properly translated into German but the terms of use which you're
about to accept each time you're launching the app are in English only for
the time being.
Kind regards,

Barbara

  Hi Jared,

I just had a look at your link and it will bring up the app, but in the
Zimbabwe app store. You can tell which app store an address is from by
looking at the 2 letters after https://itunes.apple.com/

Anyhow, it appears the app is available in the United States, but it is
not available in the Canadian app store.

Too bad since at least the description sounds OK. The developer, Novartis
Pharmaceutical Corporation, is according to Wikipedia also the largest
pharmaceutical company with respect to sales which in 2013 were 57.9
Billion.

Very nice of them to make a free app for the blind, isnā?Tt it? I guess
they would have the resources to do a good job, I mean whatā?Ts a million or
two or even 5 for a company like that. It would, however, be nice if they
provided a list of countries where the app works.

Letā?Ts also see if there will be regular updates and new features.

Maybe KNFB Reader should have gone to them for a bit of funding, then
maybe the KNFB Reader app would have cost 99 Cents instead of 99 Dollars.
After all, according to prescription drugs, over the counter drugs, vaxines,
animal drugs the company is also into contact lenses *smile*.a few Bucks

  Regards,

  Sieghard

Apparently there is a new free navigation app available designed for blind
people called ViaOpta Nav and it can be found at

  https://itunes.apple.com/zw/app/viaopta-nav/id908435532?mt=8&ign-mpt=uo%3D4
I was wondering if anyone has had a chance to look at it? I'm not going to
have an opertunity to for a couple days.
