Remember when it was said that IOS 7 would run on an iPhone 4? Yes it
technically would run from the initial release of IOS 7, but not very well.
They had to come out wit, I think it might have been, 7.1 before it would run
very well. I wonder if this might be the same situation with IOS 8 and the 4s?
If I had a 4s, I would let a few other 4s owners update them before I updated
mine, to see if they wish they hadn't. For all 4s owners, I hope IOS 8 runs
splendidly from the very beginning.

I wonder how well iOS 8 will run on a 4S? I sometimes wonder if we are better
off leaving these with iOS 7, just because 8 is probably more designed to take
advantage of more resources that the 4S wouldn't have, making it potentially
slower than 7 is now.

I can tell you unequivocally that Alex will not be on the 4S. Alex is only
supported on devices with a 64-bit processor.

Microsoft warned people that there won't be anymore security updates to the OS.
I mean yeah, I'm using XP on this Mac but I have the power to get rid of it

Might be an idea not to update to 8 on a 4s and get the best out of it's
latter years that way. I remember 6 pretty well killed working 3gS's
despite
      them being notionally supported.

Like old pC's, leave the Os proportional or contemporary with the
hardware,
and they'll continue to work well enough for longer than overloading them
with an Os they can't sustain.
The WinPC I'm writing on is still XP, and the machine dates back to 2005,
and it still does now what it did then.

I have a 4S too, but it'll probably be its last year seeing as how iOS9
      won't probably be supported.

In my opinion, the 4S was the best iPhone design.

I currently use a 4 so I'm going to have to upgrade to something at this
point. But, if I had a 4S, I wouldn't even be thinking about it.

Hi Krister. Basically what continuity is is you can start something like
writing an email on one device and continue what you were doing on
        another.
For example, If I started writing this email on my iPhone and I'm near
my
Mac, if my Mac's running OS X Yosemite, I can continue this very same
        email
on there. However, iOS 8 and Yosemite are still in beta so those
features
aren't available to us yet. I'm with you though. I can't wait until we
can
use continuity because it also lets Mac users use the Mac as a blutooth
speaker for our iPhones so we can make and answer calls.

Now, if I don't want to do it. In case that I want, or I need to do
a
restore, of my iPhone. When I press restore, the iTunes
automatically,,
start downloading the last update available.
But I don't want to install it, what can I do to keep the IOs 7 in
my

to
            do a
            restore?
