Hi all Don't know if this is limited to iOS 8, however in the latest version of Facebook Messenger for iOS you can now use the actions rotor to delete messages as well as perform other actions. So to delete a message you can now swipe to the conversation you wish to delete, use the rotor to select actions if it is not selected already, flick up or down with one finger to delete, double tap and you will have options to either delete or archive the conversation. Not tried it with individual messages yet.
Well thought I would share this with you all since you've been begging this capability for a while smile.
