Your always better off getting the newest phone. However, if money is the issue, I would go with the 5s. It's 64 bit architecture so it will work with the new Alex voice but the 5s ships with iOS 7 on it. Updating the phone is easy and many folks here can provide you with instructions on how to do that should you need them.
