Dot positions: They can be backwards, but it is automatic, and the fix was
covered a little earlier and is good. Tip the phone into away mode before
putting it flat to type on, and this happens. Tip face towards you before
putting it flat to type on, and it is the right way round.

The V mode: is to help give enough room for your fingers; an urgonomic
thing; the dots are 6 parallel stripes across the screen really, but the
long edge might still not be long enough to squeeze 6 fingers in side by
side.
Besides, I found I was using it stainsby fashion, in other words, I had
fingers crossways at the end and it was working. So the double-tap and hold
until it goes into explore mode is great for fiddling with it until we
understand it.
I did the 2finger scrub to dismis it after that.
so I answered my own earlier question.

RobH, Pleased.

Subject: RE: Problems using onscreen Braille keyboard

Hi all. Several questions about the braille keyboard.

I have not upgraded yet, but I am getting lots of questions from people.

One. Is it really true that when using table top mode, the dots are reversed
left and right from what they are in away mode?

Two. In this flat v table top mode, I am not sure how to know what this
arrangement would be.

Three. If you don’t need to calibrate, how far can you change where your
fingers are. What if I wanted to type like I might on a braille display so
that, for example, you hold your hands so that your fingers run parallel to
the length of the phone with dots 1 2 and 3 in the left hand, and 4 5 and 6
in the right. Can this be done.

Thanks all for your help.

Neal

Simply don't calibrate. I find calibration has no effect in Away Mode, and
the odd problems you discovered in Table Mode. However, nothing says you
have to calibrate, and I didn't even know you could for days. So, I never
calibrate, and things work well enough.

Hello guys!

I was trying this feature out on an iPhone 5.

I've discovered that when I calibrate the dot positions, it often happens
that the 456 dots cell changes the dots positions in a rather uncontrollable
manner. Sometimes dots 4 and 6 are turned round, sometimes it is dots 5 and
4 that change their positions. This makes it rather hard to type on it
reliably.Has anyone found a way around this?\I've also noticed that it works
best when you hold it with the home button to the right.

Best regards

Glad it's not just me. I always make sure that I am in braille input mode
before I start typing, and I traditionally use the phone in away mode. When
the phone decides that it does not want to recognize my gestures, it
recognizes nothing. It doesn't matter whether I am in contracted mode or
not. I have experimented with finger placement, and extremely exaggerated
swipes. Nothing works.

When I learned that Apple was putting braille input into iOS, I had a bit of
buyer's remorse for purchasing MBraille. I am so glad I still have it.

Hi all. I thin; we all have to remember that this is a brand new feature...
and there will be bugs. I've experienced this as well.

Hi all,

Much of the time, when I use the onscreen Braille keyboard, nothing I type
is recognized or input. Other gestures that aren't recognized include
turning contracted Braille translation on and off, attempting to calibrate
the dots, and attempting to use Explore Mode to locate the dots on screen.
The only gesture that seems to be recognized is the gesture to change the
rotor setting. Is anyone else experiencing this?

I am an experienced MBraille user, and MBraille is still working reliably
for me, so I don't think it's me or the hardware in my phone. Thoughts
appreciated.
