Just tried it out and the summary is indeed being read to me by Voiceover. Note though, I am still on iOS 7.1.2 and use Feeddler in conjunction with The Old Reader. I don't' know if using iOS 8 or some other RSS web service could also be a factor in your problem.
I am noticing however that when clicking on the all option either globally or from within a folder, no feed entries are showing up. If I click on a particular feed though, there's no problem. This is only with the new Feeddler Pro app. The old version which I still have on my device works fine. I wrote the Dev about it last night and he wrote me back that he had been getting other similar reports from folks who are also using The Old Reader. He said that he figured there would be some bugs as he rewrote the whole app, but that he hoped to put out an update with some fixes soon. Another issue I am noticing is that VO jumps around on the list of items when flicking down and I'm often placed back towards the top of the list.
