Very few instruments are perfectly in tune when using the traditional methods of tuning. Talking Tuner works very well in quiet areas. Make small incremental changes with your tuning keys, and it will even get a 12-string acoustic guitar in tune. And do! not! pluck the strings really hard, as it will always result in a sharp note. Also, beware of feedback on untouched strings that may affect the result.

I use it quite successfully. Tune in small increments, and remember that it could be five cents off either way. It works well enough to get me mostly in tune, and if I have to adjust a few strings to match the rest, no big deal. I can tune my guitar much better whith my ears than this crap talking tuner ... cheers. Em 01/10/2014 18:52, RobH. escreveu: As an aside to this, what is the best method of use? I have been doing a round robin, which is to say, strike each string in turn and adjust each as I go; and it can get terrible frustrating sometimes. Keeps saying ten cents flat, flat, flat, sharp, sharp, flat.... like it can't make it mind up! If I had a better ear, I'd do it by a tone and work it out that way. This time, I've just concentrated on the one string until it said in tune; then moved on; Still need fine tuning though, and wonder how good if I changed it's percentage sensitivity? It works just fine. Play a note, silence it, and let the iOS device tell you the pitch. You may need to increase your mic sensitivity. Also, be sure you allow the app access to the microphone, or it won't hear anything.
