Teresa,

That would explain it, the iPod Touch does not offer auto brightness.

I have an iPod Touch 5G. My husband says the auto brightness setting does not
appear.

That is definitely strange. Is Auto brightness also not there if you move your

Well, after a reboot, it still doesn't show for me. Maybe something weird
happened when I did a couple of complete resets. I don't think I'll worry about
it for now, as everything seems ok and battery is fine.

Maybe on a reboot it'll fix itself.

Hi Teresa,

You are missing something, it’s right there where you said, Settings, Display
and Brightness. Top left is the back button, Swipe right once and you are on
the heading “Display and Brightness”. Swipe right again and you are on the
heading “Brightnejss”. Swipe right once more and you are on the Screen
brightness slider and another swipe right takes you to “Auto brightness” which
will be announced as either on or off.

Here's the clincher, unless I'm missing something, I'm not finding an auto
brightness setting in iOS 8.0.2, Settings, Display and Brightness.
Interesting. I wonder if it still exists.

Same for me, I have mine set to 0 and that is where it stays. I know you said

That's interesting. I haven't experienced this, as far as I know. My battery is
behaving as it has for a long time, and every time I check brightness, it's set
to zero.

Thanks for reminding me, I forgot that was even in my signature.

I had that there to account for Siri mistakes, but since iOS 8 I always use the
braille keyboard. Probably should take that out :-)

Just for kicks though, this message was dictated with Siri and not corrected.

Hi, make sure that the auto brightness is off.

Go into settings, and swipe right until you get to display, and

brightness.

Double tap on this option, and swipe to the slide, you can adjusted to

what you want it to be, swipe to the right, and make sure that auto

brightness is off.

You will also be able to change the brightness anytime you want from the

control center too.

Hi,

I have recently noticed that at times my battery degrades a lot faster

than usual. Since I don’t need to see the screen, I always turn my

brightness setting to 0, and this makes quite a difference to battery

life. Since updating to iOS8.0.2 I have noticed that the brightness

setting frequently changes of its own accord. If you periodically check

your screen brightness setting, found in the Control Centre, does it

change of its own accord?

I am intending to write to Apple about this issue, but wanted to confirm

if it is a common bug or one that only effects a couple of people.

Many thanks,

Brett.
