Hi Christine,

I updated my wife’s iPod /Touch Fifth gen and the experience is not much
different than it is omn my 5S. It might be a touch slower, but it’s nothing
obvious at least not for me. As others reported you may occasionally deal with
Voiceover restarting, but I don’t find it happens a lot.

I would definitely wait and upgrade after tomorrow (give it a day or two
especially if you are upgrading from 7 to 8 and if you can do it via iTunes
then I recommend that. I also highly recommend you at least quit all apps from
the app switcher and do a reboot right before doing the u pdate. Of course you
should also do a sync and backup if you use iTunes or at least do an iCloud
backup if you don’t.

It is my understanding that tomorrow’s iOS 8.1 version will be updated from iOS
8.1 Beta 2 which developers had a chance to download for the last week or so.
Let’s hope there will be a few more fixes for some of the Voiceover bugs. There
are a few fixes in 8.1 Beta 2, but I won’t say more except that some of the
major Voiceover issues still are a problem, but maybe the public release
tomorrow addresses some of these.

Regards,

Sieghard

I mostly have problems with Voiceover restarting and sometimes have to reboot.
Knowing what I know now, I'd recommend holding off on updating and see if the
instability is resolved in the update.

Well, I would hold off anyway, a major update will be out tomorrow that will
hopefully correct bugs and improve performance especially on older devices.

HI All,

Has anyone upgraded to IOS 8 on an iPod Touch 5. If so, what is your
experience like (e.g., major problems, sluggishness...). I am apprehensive
about doing the upgrade given all of the negative sounding results folks are
having with various apps and features on this list.

Have a nice afternoon!

Chris
