I have found that if I unlock the screen it works for me much better.
also when it says ok to send, and then never makes the sound, if I search the
screen I see the send button and double tap that and it will send. true, not
like 7.001 or whatever the prior one was, but a work-around.

Same as with 8. I pick up the phone and locked screen is on. I push the
home button and get the two medium pitch beeps. I say, "Send a message to
so-and-so." Possibility 1, it says "What do you want to say," and gives the
high-pitched beeps. I say a message with or with punctuation. It says ok and
nothing else. I don't know if the message is sent or not.
Possibility 2, I start to say a message and get two low-pitched beeps and
have to start all over again.
Possibility 3, I say the message, it repeats it back and asks whether I want
to send. I say "Send it " or "yes", and the send message sound plays.
These are in order of their likelihood.
Good news of sorts: I actually got to ask Siri the Woodchuck question and
after an initially interrupted message, it repeated the whole response after a
couple of seconds. So that's some progress at least on one front.
Btw, thanks for whatever suggestions you have to offer.

Can you elaborate? I'm having no problems texting, and I've not heard of
anyone else having such problems either. Maybe we can help you figure out
