Lori, If you are waiting for a bug-free version of iOS to come out, you will be waiting a long time. Certainly, if your device is running fine with 7.1.2 and you are happy with it, then there's no reason to update. However, there are a lot of things in 8.1 that are really cool. Yes, there are still bugs in 8.1 that have not been fixed, or perhaps others that have popped up, but there will never be a bug-free update. If you want to wait for the update that has the least amount of bugs, that would probably be whatever version is out right before iOS 9 is released a year from now. That's a long time to wait for a bug free experience though.
