Hi Christopher, I don't have an iPad, but if you can install Skype for iPhone on an iPad then I would think that is the way to go since as you said it is a much newer and higher version. I actually never knew that they were not the same and don't quite get why Skype would have an iPad version and not update it with the same features. Checking the app store Skype for iPad was updated on September 15 and is at version 4.18.1 whereas Skype for iPhone was updated on October 15 and is at version 5.6.
