Hi, I haven't seen the focus issues, but I can help with typing the commands in bARD Mobile. The problem is that Quick Nav is turned on when you install iOS 8 or 8.1. There is a braille display command that is supposed to toggle Quick Nav - Space with Q. Unfortunately, it currently doesn't work. If you have access to a Bluetooth keyboard, connect it, and press the left and right arrow keys together to turn Quick Nav off. Then the BARD Mobile commands will work normally.
